First published in 1977 by Puffin Books, the 'Practical Puffin' series is for children who like to do things for themselves.
The series is featured in Puffin by Design – 70 Years of Imagination 1940–2010 (Penguin Books), which charts the development of Puffin and the role its editors, illustrators and designers played in creating and defining Puffin's identity form its early titles through to the present day.
The books, aimed at independant-minded children aged 7 – 12 years old, provide basic skills through a range of innovative and fun projects that tap into the child's own inventiveness.
From cooking and carpentry to gardening and bicycles, each book has lots of things to do that are peculiar, funny or mysterious.
