A lookout located atop Dairy Farmer's Hill, at the National Arboretum Canberra, offers sweeping views of the entire site.
DLD was commissioned to design the graphic interpretation to be included within the handrail structure. The concept was to create a memorable jewellery-like piece which encapsulates the NAC project.
More than 100 leaves, representing each of the forests found within the Arboretum, were hand-drawn and then etched into the stainless steel handrail.
The detail and definition of each of the leaves and a subtle play of light across the surface of the etching provides an effective result which will be further enhanced in the changing seasons.
