WOODSIDE VISITOR CENTRE

David Lancashire Design was commissioned to produce an innovative exhibition for the Woodside visitor centre in the Pilbara, Western Australia.

The North West Gas Shelf Joint Venture near Karratha in W.A. is Australia’s largest resource project. The visitor centre overlooks the massive gas processing plant and the task was to refurbish the interior, incorporating a new exhibition space, which would interpret the plant and the surrounding landscape.

Utilising innovative production techniques and contemporary built forms, the visitor experience focuses on an explanatory interpretation of the chemical process involved in turning natural gas into liquid gas at the Woodside plant.

Also incorporating the refit of the interior of the building and a new theatre, DLD coordinated the research component and project managed the design process, from concept design to overseeing installation for the centre. The exhibition included a number of interactive components, graphic panels and the use of film.
