ANDREW BROWNE: FROM THE PERIPHERY

Andrew Browne ‘From the Periphery’ incorporates the paintings and photographs of this Melbourne-based artist, inspired by the new land adjacent to the existing McClelland Sculpture Park – its history, location and wilderness qualities.

The muted colour palette of the catalogue picks up on the key tones of the artist’s works, which investigate the liminal edge between darkness and light.

The publication’s cloth cover with foil title, and use of off-white uncoated paper, work to create a tangible and textural quality, a reflection of the images and their subject.

The clean and simplistic page layout and typographic treatment juxtapose the detailed and often-chaotic representations of landscape, allowing the images themselves to bring out the poetry of the hidden, obscured and partially revealed.
